Dear Jean,
I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones, including the fuzzy and
furry ones, well. I want to personally thank you yet again for a grant of
$12,000 to the No Kill Advocacy Center and to share with you how the
grants, over the years, have helped us save lives.
When we started the No Kill Advocacy Center in 2004, mass killing in
virtually every American shelter was the norm. Not anymore. By boldly
challenging the myths and misperceptions which have historically
enabled that killing, and by promoting a humane, life affirming model of
animal sheltering – what we call “The No Kill Equation”- our organization
has been instrumental in radically transforming the industry, bringing
hope to animals and animal lovers nationwide. Indeed, because of our
efforts, millions of animals are now alive who, in decades past, would
have been killed.
Much of the No Kill lifesaving success now occurring across the nation
can be traced back to the influence of our organization, with a quick
google search of “The No Kill Equation” revealing the profound extent of
our reach. Progressive shelter directors throughout the nation are
aspiring to its vision, while animal lovers throughout the nation are
working to ensure its implementation at the shelters in their hometowns.
Due to the personal assistance we provide, our films and guides, our
national conferences, speaking tours and the innovative, life affirming
sheltering protocols we promote – many of which were pioneered by our
organization – the No Kill Advocacy Center continues to be at the
vanguard of the exciting and increasingly successful movement to end shelter
killing in the United States. But there remains much work to be done and many
projects we wish to pursue but need funding to bring into reality. This grant will
have a profound impact. I am incredibly grateful.
Together, not only will we save lives; but we will create a future where every
animal will be respected and cherished, and where every individual life will be
protected and revered.
Very truly yours,
Nathan J. Winograd
