Thank You from Kindness Ranch – October 2012

We received a very nice thank-you, with pictures, from Kindness Ranch:

Hi Jean,

It took awhile because of some engineering challenges, but the cats are able to go outside and wander safely in a HUGE cat run. They love it!

You’ll see in one of the pics: Barney the dog meeting Bubba. We are able to use the run to safely introduce dogs to cats and vice versa. The more experiences we can provide to our animals, the more ready they are to transition into a home. There’s also a picture of me holding Sassy outside. She’s the “mean queen” of the cat yurt and didn’t want anything to do with the Great Outdoors at first. But I was able to carry her outside and she really liked the run!

THANKS so much for allowing us to increase our animal space by over 33%. The cabin/yurt remodel plus the outdoor run have made a big difference. We have also been able to “step up” our adoption outreach, rescuing and adopting out more cats and dogs in this year than all of the prior years combined. We can’t do it without supporters like you.

Our next goal is to find ways to work more intimately with the animals, more one-on-one interactions, simulating the Real World that they will get adopted into. One idea is to add a simple building to kennel some of the dogs at night (they would be in the packs during the day). That way a few dogs could spend the night with staff in a home to have quiet time, to work on house training, etc.

Warm regards,
Mike
