The week before Hurricane Irene, a sweet kitten showed up at our house. He was puffy and orange and very sweet. We named him Milis, which in Gaelic means, yes, “sweet”. He continues to be so. Hurricane Irene brought us another orange kitten, Clair (County Clair in Ireland). Clair is now a typical girl going through adolescence, so only “sweet on her terms”. (Just kidding.)
Well, these darlings became my son’s challenge. He is autistic (Aspergers) and these two are wonderful to him and for him.
. . . Milis wound up disappearing for two days. It was a miserable two days at (our) home. (My son) was a mess. Milis did show up, but his leg was broken. He was going to have to be pinned and wired or amputated. Dr. Hirsch chose surgery. Either way, we couldn’t afford it.
They told us of your generous offer. It has been 2 1/2 weeks. Milis is doing amazing. He has a pin in his leg that is wired in 3 places because of 3 breaks. (My son) has nursed him. He has supremely passed our expectations. Both (my son) and Milis. You wil never know how deeply we appreciate your kindness.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
