Paws and Claws (and all of our friends who voted in the Southern Tier Tuesdays weekly campaign) received a heartfelt thank you from our SAFER Cats on the Border partner at Gemini Farm Sanctuary, Diana. Winning the $2,000 prize means a great deal for the kitties and the sanctuary.
In the words of Diana, “Gemini Farm Sanctuary takes in the cats no one wants. We take in the unadoptables. We get very little funding from adoption fees.” Winning this prize will, also in Diana’s words, “help us help those that need us the most”.
Below is the text of the email sent by Diana:
Sending a huge thank you and a hug to you and all your friends that voted for the farm sanctuary. We won!!!!
Our tentative plans are to use the grant money to make improvements to a garden shed so that our strictly outside feral cats have a heated area this coming winter. They already have the barn, hay mow and enclosed catio with cubby holes to snuggle in. But adding a small building with heat will be a new option for them. All of our colony cats do have access to the house but some of them refuse to come in. A heated garden shed will give them the warmth of the house while allowing them to enjoy it without humans to frighten them.
It is amazing what can be accomplished when everyone works together. Again sending hugs and thanks to all of you!! You made the difference.
Love to all
Diana
