CALENDAR YEAR 2008 MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS
Paws and Claws continues to work diligently to end the cycle of cruelty caused by unchecked pet reproduction. PACS provided thousands of FREE spay/neuter surgeries for homeless pets during calendar year 2008. PACS also provided for vaccinations, testings, internal and external parasite treatments. PACS spay/neuter programs and services certainly epitomize our philosophy of Prevention Not Destruction. In addition to providing sheltering assistance for hundreds of homeless companion animals, Paws and Claws Society funded medical treatment for sick or injured cats and dogs, which included many life-saving surgeries. Each month, PACS makes available the award-winning newspaper, KIND NEWS, to more than three thousand children enrolled in the second, third and fourth grades. This publication helps teach children respect for animals and the environment.

. . SPRING, 2008: PACS RECEIVES KUDOS FROM ISAR: Paws and Claws featured in ISAR Spring, 2008 newsletter and received warm thanks for the great idea to utilize the ISAR billboard in the print media. ISAR also instructed readers to visit the ISAR website to see the ad that PACS had placed in the print media. . MARCH/APRIL, 2008: GEORGIE PORGIE, POSTER KITTY FOR PACS “CIRCLE OF COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS” INITIATIVE FEATURED IN MOTHER JONES MAGAZINE!!! Paws and Claws educational campaign to promote a spay/neuter and adoption message to the general public appeared in Mother Jones Magazine. . MAY/JUNE, 2008: MOTHER JONES MAGAZINE FEATURES PACS AD THAT PROMOTES ISAR AND SPAY/NEUTER!! JULY, 2008: PENNSVILLE POUND OFFICIALLY JOINS THE “CIRCLE” PROGRAM!!! Pennsville Township Mayor and Council passed into law an Ordinance to create the Spay/Neuter and Adoption Program. This Ordinance will allow for the establishment of an Advisory Committee for the Pennsville Pound and the hiring of an Animal Adoption Coordinator. The passage of the ordinance brings to fruition the initial plan set in motion in October of 2007. . AUGUST, 2008: PACS DOG HOUSE BUILDING PROJECT WELL RECEIVED IN CAPE MAY COUNTY. Cape May County Special Services School District letter of thanks on behalf of the children who participated in the building of dog houses, which were then delivered by Animal Control Officers to residents in the county whose dogs were in need. This is the third time since the DOG HOUSE PROJECT was first introduced by PACS in 1994, that PACS has partnered with others to establish the program in another area of New Jersey. . SEPTEMBER, 2008: KIND NEWS PUBLICATION SPONSORED BY PACS FOR THIRD YEAR IN CMC. Paws and Claws Society again provided this award winning publication to every Cape May County third grader. . SEPTEMBER, 2008: PAWS AND CLAWS SUPPORTS PHYSICIANS COMMITTEE FOR RESPONSIBLE MEDICINE!!! Dr. Neal Barnard, Founder of PCRM, gave a wonderful presentation at a Cherry Hill event. .
